Dimock garments are designed + made in ōtepoti/dunedin, new zealand, by ciaran naylor.
Dimock is committed to a low carbon footprint and will seek to continually reduce this as the label grows and evolves. all garments and packaging contain zero plastic, and are designed to be worn, used, and repaired for as long as possible.
fabrics
all fabrics are natural fibres, currently sourced through nz-based fabric wholesalers from countries such as korea, china, and japan.
biodegradable fusing
garments are all strengthened with biodegradable fusing comprised of a cotton backing with a bio-polymer adhesive that is developed by freudenberg performance materials and manufactured in nantong, china.
tagua/corozo nut buttons
before plastics, it was standard to use the tagua nut for the production of buttons, buckles, clasps and rings. the nut is collected from the fruit of the phitelephas macracarpa rainforest palm (tagua palm) in ecuador, and its conservation protects the rainforests from the risk of deforestation for agricultural purposes. the pickers are independent local farmers who sell the nuts to local wholesalers and then it is shipped all over the world for manufacture, predominantly into buttons. next to shell, tagua nut buttons are the most natural buttons you can use.
threads
all garments are sewn with naturally sourced threads, either tencel, or cotton.
tencel is the brand name of a particular kind of lyocell, a wood-pulp fibre. the tencel fibre comes from, austria and is spun in portugal. you can read more about lenzing tencel here.
organic cotton threads are by sewpure, farmed and processed in india. you can read more about them here.
